Iwami Ginzan Library

This beautiful building is Iwami Ginzan Library, our university's satellite campus in Iwami Ginzan.

This library is definitely not what you expect!

The Iwami Ginzan Library was designed by Professor Hirai at the university and created by Nakamura Brace Co., Ltd., a local company that is know worldwide for its high quality prosthetic limbs. The library is managed mainly by university students who are studying regional development.

In Iwami Ginzan Library, you can relax in the cafe while reading interesting books, work or study in the co-working space, and participate in some interesting events and special exhibitions planed by students from University of Shimane. There is also a place to play in the water for children.

Iwami Ginzan Library is a place for tourists, a place for the people of Omori town where the library is located to interact with each other, a place for family time, and a place to work and study, and so on.

This library is not just a library, but a new facility that will bring many people together.

( In 2023, Iwami Ginzan Library opens from 10am to 5 pm on weekdays by November. From December, opening hours is undecided. And also, this library is mainly maneged by students, so opening days and hours might be changed. Please check the website for the most recent opening hours.)
